Damn that broken cable...

Well.. i had spent the worse half of the morning (the better half was spent in bed, having breakfast and walking around in my pajamas) writing and prepareing a witty, funny but yet interessting blog to upload from my laptop to this site... Easy enough one would probably think.. WRONG!

Let me tell you the tale of my day at the local internet café...

I packed my laptop loaded with texts and images of colourful design and headed to the internet café. Joyful was my jig as i walked along the dog poo littered streets of Budapest. Traffic, people and smog all around me. And the sun tried to warm my face through the mist. But other than that it was a pretty nice day. Arrived at the café and checked the prices.. 260 ft for an hour.. a bit more than 10 kr an hour.. fair enough. (or 1 USD)
Went inside and waved to the guy at the counter, took out my laptop, pointed to it and asked: "OK?"
He replied with some hungarian frases.. (which i.. did.. not... understand. ) and pointed me to an empty table. But there were no internet cables or sockets anywhere so i took out my network cable and pointed to it so that the guy at the counter could see what i was looking for. He replied once again with some hungarian words out of which i think i heard "LAN" or perhaps even "WLAN"... ( sweet.. ) as well as pointing to a busted up network cable on the floor. So hey! What do i have to loose, right? Well.. the WLAN thing sure didn`t work.. and neither did the network cable i had fished up from the floor. So i called the guy over and asked him "Cable, OK?"? and pointed to the cable.

The guy just looked at me and started to talk to me in hungarian... hmm.. perhaps i should of worn a sign saying "Stupid tourist. No speaky Hungary" Anyway.. i tried to show him that the cable must be broken or not connected since my laptop claimed that the cable was not connected properly in the other end. I think that he thought otherwise...

so now i'm sitting at one of their own computers.. on which i only have access to the screen, a keyboard, a mouse and belive it or not.. and internet camera! But no USB port so i can't download or upload anything! I'm gonna have to get an interpreter and have a quick word with the "behind the counter guy" so that he can go and check the other end of that cable he wanted me to connect.

anyway.. tomorrow i'll be heading to my workplace and perhaps there i can upload the "real" blog for today..

but untill then here is a pic of Budapest...
